Cleaning between teeth often requires numerous oral health care treatments and products. However, if you choose to use a threaded dental floss, always make sure your product is safely and accurately used. If you misuse your dental floss, plaque may be left behind, which can continue to damage your mouth via dental erosion and tooth decay.

In order to ensure the product is functioning properly, make sure you are using dental floss products that meet the highest standards of safety and effectiveness. This includes products that feature the ADA Seal of Acceptance. In addition, it is important to make sure you use a floss that will not tear easily when in use. Single filament thread is known for being shred-resistant.

To prevent contamination, it is important to use a new strand of thread for each time you floss. It is recommended that you floss every single day for roughly 2 to 3 minutes per session. When flossing your teeth, make sure you floss between each and every tooth and don’t forget the teeth behind your back row. Take your time and make sure all areas and sides of a tooth are effectively flossed.

To help floss correctly, use a strand that is roughly 16“ in length and wrap an end of each thread around a finger on each hand. Gently move up and down the thread as needed to make sure that you are flossing with a different section of the strand between each tooth. This will ensure that recontamination will not occur.
